How does Affnet record conversions with server-to-server postbacks?

When a visitor clicks a tracking link, an edge endpoint issues a click_id, records the click and redirects to the advertiser's landing page with macro tokens substituted. The advertiser keeps the click_id and, when a final event occurs, sends a signed POST to /api/postback/v2 from its own server. The request does not depend on the visitor's browser or browser cookies. The advertiser's landing page and backend must carry the click_id through to that request.

How does prepaid advertiser funding work?

Advertisers prepay in USD and allocate funds to offers. When a final conversion (qualified_lead for CPL, approved_sale for CPA) is recorded through the signed postback, the allocated balance is debited and balanced ledger entries are written in one atomic transaction. If the allocated balance cannot cover the event, the conversion is not recorded and no funds move. An advertiser cannot cancel a final conversion; only an audited administrator correction can create a compensating entry.

How is the postback endpoint protected against forged or replayed requests?

Each request carries an HMAC-SHA256 signature over the raw JSON body in the X-Postback-Signature header, plus a nonce and a Unix timestamp in the body. The timestamp must be within 300 seconds of server time, a nonce reused with a different body is rejected, and the first decision recorded for a click is permanent.

How does the multi-level affiliate hierarchy work?

The referral hierarchy is stored as normalized lineage records and is eight affiliate levels deep by default. A parent is assigned once, when the account is created, and cannot be changed afterwards. A child affiliate's cumulative USD entitlement must be less than or equal to its parent's, and equal adjacent entitlements produce zero upline spread.
